Get support. Create balance. Thrive.
Balancing a career, academics, relationships, daily responsibilities, and taking care of your physical and mental health can be exhausting. Getting help with it all brings relief.
You're not alone in trying to deal with chronic overwhelm, trauma, anxiety, and depression, or feeling like you're sleep-walking through life. A lot of people are struggling to keep it together while attempting to live up to expectations that may not be realistic, at least for now. Be the one who finds a much better way to manage the overwhelm so you can truly enjoy what you've worked hard to achieve.
I'm Colleen King, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner that came to the world of psychology and healing as a second career after my own therapy journey changed my life. I get what it’s like to struggle with self-doubt, trauma-based shame, and debilitating symptoms that get in the way of living life, and I know what it’s like to experience genuine healing and transformation.
I offer somatic therapy in my Sacramento, CA office to adults and specialize in working with techies, creatives, overthinkers, LGBTQ+ folx and Allies, and adults (18+) living with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or PTSD. I work from a holistic mind-body perspective to help process stressors and trauma, and may blend cognitive mindfulness-based techniques, narrative therapy, parts work, and expressive arts therapies into the work as needed. I may also incorporate another holistic approach called Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy, which can help identify and transform patterns of mood fluctuations, self-care habits, relational disconnection, and environmental stressors including systemic injustices, which often affects nervous system regulation and mood stability, self-worth, and vitality.
My clients are some of my best teachers. Each of you has something to offer the world, and I cherish the privilege to be there with you, listening and guiding, as we work together. I am committed to providing my clients with the tools they need to better navigate their lives and enhance their relationships. From short-term, solution-focused counseling to long-term, in-depth psychotherapy, I learned how to meet my clients where they are at and take them to where they want to go.
If you feel nervous about taking the next step, perhaps it will be comforting for you to realize that starting therapy is often a lot easier and more comfortable than anticipating the therapy process.
